Joel has been senior pastor at Woodburn Missionary Church for 20 years. Before entering career ministry in 1982, he taught and coached in the public schools. He has coauthored 3 devotional books and has an extensive speaking ministry throughout the U.S. and overseas. His education includes Bachelor of Science, Ball State University; Masters of Science in Education, Indiana University; Masters of Christian Ministry, Huntington College. He serves as an online professor for Taylor University and teaches in the graduate program at Bethel College. Joel currenly serves as Vice President of the Missionary Church denomination.

He and his wife, Judy, have three grown sons and are especially fond of their grandson, Isaac.
